Catapano voted Co-Player of Year, Rookie of Year for Sewanee women

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Freshman Natalie Catapano garnered Co-Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year accolades while Taylor Mottern was named Coach of the Year and Catapano and freshman Anna Claire Gibson earned First Team All-SAA honors, as announced Sunday at the conclusion of the SAA Women's Golf Championships at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
 
Senior Jane Stilz and freshmen Rachel Waters and Elizabeth Bowman were voted Second Team All-SAA and Stilz was part of the All-Sportsmanship team.
 
Sewanee won the team title under Mottern at the conference championships by 16 shots and finished the 54-hole event with a team total of 892, second-best in SAA history. The championship was the first for the Sewanee program since 2017 and only the second women's golf conference title since at least 1994.
 
Catapano registered an incredible freshman campaign by taking low medalist honors this past weekend by 10 strokes, carding three rounds under par for a three-day score of four-under par 212. In nine events this academic year, the Pacific Palisades, Calif., native won twice and finished in the Top 10 five times as well as the Top 15 on two other occasions. She posted a scoring average of 74.0 in 21 rounds, carding three scores in the 60s and shooting 75 or better 12 times.
 
Gibson tied for third at the SAA Championships thanks to two rounds of one-over 73. The Knoxville, Tenn., native finished in the Top 40 on seven occasions, including third at the SAA Preview a month ago and 24^th at the Transylvania Kickoff Classic in the fall. She registered a scoring average of 79.1 over 21 rounds with 10 rounds in the 70s.
 
Stilz placed in the Top 30 in six events, placing sixth at the Transylvania Kickoff Classic, 10^th at the Montgomery Women's Intercollegiate and tied for seventh at the SAA Championships. The Lexington, Ky., native recorded 14 rounds in the 70s and tallied a 77.7 scoring average in 21 rounds this season.
 
After playing in two tournaments in the fall, Waters finished in the Top 30 in 3-of-5 events this spring, placing 14^th at the SAA Preview, tied for 28^th at the Deb Jackson Invitational and tied for seventh at the SAA Championships. The Nashville, Tenn., native posted a 79.8 scoring average in 16 rounds this year with seven rounds in the 70s, including all three rounds in the conference tournament.
 
Bowman played in 4-of-5 events this spring after one fall tournament, finishing in the Top 30 in each of the last three outings. The Nashville, Tenn., native tied for third at the SAA Preview, tied for 30^th at the Deb Jackson Invitational and placed ninth at the SAA Championships with three rounds in the 70s. She registered a 79.1 scoring average in 11 rounds with seven rounds in the 70s.
