SEWANEE, Tenn. – Freshman
Natalie Catapano posted her third straight round under par, claiming low medalist honors by 10 strokes, and Sewanee ran away with the team title, winning by 16 shots, on Sunday at the SAA Women's Golf Championships at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
The Tigers registered their second straight round of 297 as a team and finished the 54-hole event with a team total of 892, second-best in SAA history. The championship is the first for the Sewanee program since 2017 and only the second women's golf conference title since at least 1994.
All of the Sewanee golfers started their rounds at No. 1.
Catapano continued her stellar play this academic year with a one-under par 71 in the final round. She started hot for the second straight day, recording birdies on holes two, three, four and seven, but she also netted three bogeys on the front nine.
The Pacific Palisades, Calif., native steadied her game on the back side with seven pars, one bogey and a birdie on the par-5 17
th hole. She finished with a three-round total of 212, 10 strokes ahead of Trinity University's Jessica Mason.
Freshman
Anna Claire Gibson collected birdies on holes two and four to begin the day before two bogeys later on the front side. The Knoxville, Tenn., native registered two bogeys and a birdie at No. 15 on the back for a one-over 73 and a 54-hole score of 223, tied for third.
Freshman
Rachel Waters moved up seven spots in the final round, tying for seventh individually. She shot even-par on the front nine with birdies on holes four and eight and a double bogey at seven. The Nashville, Tenn., native collected seven pars with one double and a bogey on 18 for a three-over 75 on Sunday.
Freshman
Elizabeth Bowman recorded 12 pars in her final round, six on each nine, and tallied three bogeys on both sides as well, shooting six-over 78 for a 54-hole score of 231, alone in ninth place for the College Grove, Tenn., native.
Senior
Jane Stilz also shot six-over on Sunday, registering six pars with a bogey on one, a double at No. 9 and a birdie on six. The Lexington, Ky., native carded five pars and four bogeys on the back side and tied for seventh with Waters with a three-round total of 230.
Junior
Olivia Bentley posted one-over on the front nine with one bogey, one double and birdies on holes four and nine. The Nashville, Tenn., native found some trouble on the back and finished with an 82 and a 54-hole score of 237, tied for 16
th.
