Natalie Catapano shot her second straight under-par round with a 71 and freshman
Anna Claire Gibson carded a one-over 73, helping Sewanee women's golf remain in first place after the second round of the SAA Championships on Saturday at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
The Tigers posted a 297 team score in the second round, one shot better than Friday. Sewanee holds a 13-stroke advantage over Trinity University heading into the final round in the 54-hole event.
All of the Sewanee golfers started their rounds at No. 10.
Catapano started hot with birdies on holes 12 and 13 and an eagle on 14, driving the short par four and making an eight-foot putt. She added four pars to finish the back nine at four-under. The Pacific Palisades, Calif., native collected six pars and three bogeys on the front for her one-under 71. She leads Trinity's Jessica Mason by six shots in the individual standings.
Gibson birdied No. 11 but then recorded a double bogey on 12 and a bogey on 15. The Knoxville, Tenn., native registered four birdies in a six-hole stretch starting at No. 17, with birdies on one, three and four as well. She doubled five and bogeyed seven but finished with two pars for a one-over 73 and a two-round total of 150, along in sixth place.
Freshman
Elizabeth Bowman birdied holes 11 and 12 before a string of five bogeys in six holes to make the turn. The College Grove, Tenn., native registered three bogeys and birdies on two and eight on the front for a four-over 76 and a 36-hole score of 153, tied for ninth.
Junior
Olivia Bentley recorded five pars with two bogeys, one double and a birdie on the back nine, with her birdie on 13. The Nashville, Tenn., native collected birdies on holes three and five with two bogeys on the front for a five-over par 77 and a two-day total of 155, tied for 14th.
Senior
Jane Stilz also tallied five pars with two bogeys, one double and a birdie on No. 15 on the back nine. The Lexington, Ky., native added a birdie on two and four bogeys on the front, finishing with a six-over 78 and a 36-hole score of 152, solo eighth.
Freshman
Rachel Waters shot even-par on the back nine with seven pars, one bogey and a birdie at No. 14. The Nashville, Tenn., native birdied No. 1 before two bogeys and was one-over for the day through 15 holes, but she made a triple and a double, carding a six-over 78 for a two-day total of 155.
