Price, Steffensen pick up SAA Athlete of the Week honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's women's lacrosse team swept the SAA Athlete of the Week honors for the third time in five weeks, as Marlin Price and Emma Steffensen were honored for their performances against John Carroll on Friday afternoon.

Marlin Price earned her second offensive honors of the year after recording a career-high eight goals on 11 shots (73%). The senior collected the game-winning goal while adding four ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Price was also a key contributor on Sewanee's ride, helping hold John Carroll to 10-of-16 on clears.

Emma Steffensen posted a career-high 15 saves and a 57.7% save percentage, earning her first conference honors. The freshman anchored the Sewanee defense in a commanding 20-11 victory in a game that was statistically even in most categories. John Carroll and Sewanee each tallied 26 shots on goal, while JCU slightly outshot the Tigers, 29-28. Steffensen's performance in goal proved critical for Sewanee, allowing the Tigers to secure a nine-goal victory despite a significant possession disadvantage due to an 11-19 deficit in draw controls. In addition to her work in the cage, the Park City, Utah native initiated Sewanee's clears, helping the Tigers finish 22-of-25 on clearing attempts. She recorded no turnovers and added one ground ball.

Sewanee hosts Lake Forrest and Whittenberg at Puett Field on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.
