Natalie Catapano shot three-over par 76 while freshman

Jane Stilz each carded rounds of seven-over for Sewanee women's golf Monday in the first round of the Savannah Spring Invitational at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Ga.
Catapano double bogeyed her first hole of the day, No. 4, and made a bogey at No. 6 before playing the next 12 holes in two-under. She posted eight pars and three birdies – on holes 9, 12 and 14. The Pacific Palisades, Calif., native finished with two bogeys in the final three holes for her three-over 76 (par 73), good for 35
th among 99 players in the field.
Bowman started the round with three bogeys and a double in the first six holes. The College Grove, Tenn., native played the next 12 holes in two-over, including eight pars and a birdie on the par-4 14
th hole. She posted three straight bogeys on holes 15-17 but ended the day with three consecutive pars for a seven-over par 80, tied for 65
th.
Stilz also began the round slowly with two bogeys and a double but also four pars in the first seven holes. The Lexington, Ky., native collected seven pars and two bogeys on the back nine and bogeyed her final hole, No. 2, shooting 80 as well.
Freshman
Anna Claire Gibson opened the round at No. 4 and registered two bogeys and a double in her first three holes. The Knoxville, Tenn., native made nine pars over the next 12 holes. She finished with two more bogeys on the opening three holes, carding a nine-over 82, tied for 81
st.
Freshman
Rachel Waters started her day four pars and two bogeys on her first six holes. The Nashville, Tenn., native struggled on the back nine with just two pars, six bogeys and a double but birdied No. 1 and finished with two pars for a nine-over 82 as well.
Sewanee stands 16
th among 19 teams in the field after the opening round but just five strokes from 11
th place. The second and final round begins Tuesday morning in Savannah.
