Sameth named Cacchione Cup Reserve Champion

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Emma Sameth came in second in the prestigious Cacchione Cup Championships, earning Reserve Champion honors, placing just six points behind the National Champion.

Over the two-class championship, the junior tallied a score of 172.7, just six points behind SCAD's Alex Alston.

The Far Hills, N.J. native, started in fences, scoring an 86 aboard SCAD's Bon Bon, setting herself in good standing going into the flat portion of the competition. In the flat portion, Sameth rode SCAD's Bettina, tallying 86.5 points, and secured her second place finish with an impressive and bold Test, moving her from third place to second place aboard Centenary's Houdini.

Since 2007, Sameth is the seventh rider from Sewanee to compete in the Cacchione Cup, named after founder Bob Cacchione, who started the championships in 1967. She is the first rider from Sewanee to compete twice in the championship, after placing fifth in 2025, and her second-place finish marks the highest in program history.
