Anna Claire Gibson shot three-over par 75 while freshman
Elizabeth Bowman posted a score of five-over for Sewanee women's golf in the final round of the SAA Preview on Tuesday at Greystone Golf Course in Dickson, Tenn.
The Tigers registered a team score of 311 in the second round, dropping into second place behind Trinity University, losing by two strokes. The four teams in the field will return in three-and-a-half weeks for the conference championships at Greystone.
Gibson started her round on the back nine with five pars, three bogeys and a birdie on the par-3 16
th hole. The Knoxville, Tenn., native shot one-over on the front nine with six pars, two bogeys, including on her final hole, and a birdie on the par-4 seventh. She finished with a three-over 75, tying for the second-best score of the day with two other players. She tied for third with a two-day total of 152.
Bowman, playing as an individual, birdied the par-4 15
th hole to begin the day but then posted two bogeys and a double bogey. On the front nine the College Grove, Tenn., native recorded five pars and four bogeys before collecting three pars and two birdies, on holes 11 and 14, to end the round at five-over 77. She also tied for third with Gibson with a 36-hole score of 152.
Junior
Olivia Bentley started at No. 9 with a par and shot four-over on the back nine with a birdie at No. 16, one bogey and two double bogeys. The Nashville, Tenn., native eagled the second hole, a par-5, and registered three pars and four bogeys on the rest of the front side for a six-over 78 and a two-day total of 154, alone in fifth place.
Freshman
Natalie Catapano birdied her opening hole, the par-4 eighth, but then recorded three bogeys and two doubles over the next five holes. The Pacific Palisades, Calif., native played the final 12 holes in one-over par with four pars plus a birdie at No. 16 on the back and three pars, three bogeys and a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole on the front for a seven-over 79. She finished solo second with a 36-hole score of 148.
Freshman
Maeve Fitzgerald also carded a final-round 79 for the Tigers, starting at No. 12 with four pars and three bogeys to make the turn. The Meridian, Idaho, native made birdies on holes one and nine along with five pars and two doubles on the front. She had another double and then three pars to end the round for a two-day total of 159, tied for ninth.
Freshman
Lila Weaver collected pars on holes 15 and 16 to begin her round before a double and a bogey. The Saint Johns, Fla., native shot two-over on the front nine with three pars, four bogeys and birdies on holes two and seven. She registered three pars and two bogeys to finish the day at seven-over 79 as well for a 36-hole score of 163, alone in 15
th.
Senior
Jane Stilz and freshman
Rachel Waters each carded rounds of 81 on Tuesday.
Stilz started at No. 11 with three pars in the first four holes before a double bogey at No. 15. She followed that with a birdie on 16 and two bogeys to make the turn. The Lexington, Ky., native made five bogeys in the first six holes on the front nine but ended the round with four consecutive pars for a two-day total of 161, tied for 12th.
Waters recorded five pars in her first six holes with a double bogey at No. 16 her only blemish. The Nashville, Tenn., native added four pars, four bogeys and a double on the front nine and ended the day with three straight pars for a 36-hole score of 162, good for 14
th.
Freshman
Anna Louise Chesnut improved her score by eight strokes in the second round, carding an 82. The Athens, Ala., native shot four-over on the back nine with four pars, one bogey and a birdie at No. 10. The front nine was more up-and-down with five bogeys, one double and a birdie at No. 7 for a two-day total of 172, tied for 21
st.
Junior
Payton Burch started her round with a birdie at No. 13 and made the turn four-over. The Elgin, S.C., native added three pars and birdies on holes two and four on the front nine and finished with two pars and a bogey over her final three holes, shooting 85 for a 36-hole score of 172 as well.
Senior
Mary Elizabeth Jackson collected five pars and three bogeys on the back nine. The Hartwell, Ga., native added three pars and three bogeys on the front, carding a final-round 86 for a two-day total of 174, tied for 24
th.
Sewanee plays again April 18-19 at the Deb Jackson Invitational at West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville, Ga., the final tune-up before the conference tournament.
