Sewanee sweeps Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Marlin Price and Ella Townsend garnered SAA Athlete of the Week honors for their performances in Sewanee's opening weekend, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Price played a key role in Sewanee's undefeated opening weekend, totaling eight goals and three assists on 13 shots (.625). While managing a face-guard assignment, she also recorded four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the season opener against Wisconsin-River Falls.

Townsend anchored the Tigers' defense in the first game of the year, accounting for seven of Sewanee's 17 caused turnovers (River Falls finished with six as a team). On the weekend, she totaled eight caused turnovers, added a goal and a ground ball, and helped hold opponents under 20 shots per game.

Sewanee returns on the road to face Transylvania and Life University next weekend, before facing Piedmont for its home opener on Feb. 28th with a Noon start.
