Football adds Graham as offensive coordinator

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee football coach Joe Freitag announced the hiring of Nathan Graham as offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, effective immediately.

Graham worked the last three seasons as the receivers coach at Monmouth College alongside Freitag, helping the Scots to a combined 26-7 record during his tenure and a berth in the NCAA Championships this past season.

"Coach Graham fits the bill exactly in what I'm looking to lead our offensive staff," Frietag said. "He played a vital role in developing our pass game at Monmouth the last few seasons. Coach Graham has endless energy that will be a fantastic benefit to our program."

Graham mentored First Team All-Conference receivers Nate Thornton and Jackson Bergren in 2023 and 2024. Thornton garnered Second Team All-Region accolades in 2024 and set single-season (20) and career touchdown (47) receiving records that year.

Chase Newman and Jeremiah Williams earned First Team All-Conference honors and Mason Emin was a Second Team selection in 2025 as well, with Newman setting single-game receiving yards (301) and single-game receiving touchdown (4, twice) marks.

Before Monmouth, the Monticello, Ill., native served two seasons as a receivers and defensive backs coach at Argenta-Oreana High School in Argenta, Ill., assisting with film breakdown, game and practice plans and implementing and supervising the offseason weight program for the Bombers.

Graham was a four-year starter at wide receiver and also returned punts and kickoffs at Monmouth from 2017-21, earning All-Conference honors as a returner as a sophomore and as a receiver as a senior.

He earned his bachelor's in Physical Education with a minor in Global Public Health from Monmouth in December 2021.
