Women's lacrosse receives votes in IWLCA Preseason Poll

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's women's lacrosse team is receiving votes in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) preseason poll, as announced Monday morning.

The Tigers are coming off an undefeated 2025 regular season, capturing the Southern Athletic Association regular-season and tournament titles for the first time since 2014.

Sewanee hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament before its season came to an end with a second-round loss to Washington and Lee.

The Tigers will look to replace several key contributors from last season, including IWLCA All-American defender Winnie Pajcic and IWLCA All-Region selection Brooke Sigmon. Pajcic started all 18 games on defense and helped limit opponents to just 114 goals on the season, while totaling 30 caused turnovers, 31 ground balls, and 11 draw controls.

On attack, Sewanee must also replace Sigmon, who recorded 38 goals, 26 assists, and three game-winning goals. She added 43 draw controls, 23 ground balls, and 10 caused turnovers during the 2025 campaign.

Defender Claire Dillard, an SAA Honorable Mention selection, also departs after anchoring the Tigers' back line.

Despite the losses, Sewanee returns IWLCA All-Region honoree and SAA Offensive Player of the Year Marlin Price. Price led the Tigers with 62 goals and 24 assists, including four game-winning goals, while adding 20 ground balls, 34 draw controls, and eight caused turnovers in 17 games.

The Tigers also welcome back six SAA All-Conference selections, including first-team honorees Price, Ella Townsend, and Kennedy Harcourt. Second-team selections Sally Herrington and Sally Whitehead return, along with honorable mention pick Alex Kelly.

Sewanee will open its season with a scrimmage against Life before traveling to Wisconsin to face Wisconsin–River Falls and Wisconsin–Eau Claire on Feb. 14 and 15. The Tigers will host their home opener against Piedmont on Feb. 28 and open conference play at Centre on March 21.
