Emory Rhodes broke a school-record in the pole vault and freshman
Journey Morrison was the top qualifier in the 100-meter hurdles for the Sewanee women on the first day of the 2025 SAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships here Friday.
Rhodes cleared 10-feet, 5-inches for fifth place in the pole vault and No. 1 in school history, breaking a mark set by Alexis Vanwinkle in 2022. In other field events, freshman
Hannah Cleveland placed 12
th in the javelin with a mark of 85-feet, 1-inch and junior
Cydney Wright was 13
th (84-2). Freshman
Grace Potter was 15
th in the long jump with a mark of 13-9.75.
Morrison was first in the two heats of qualifying in the 100 in a school-record 15.00 while senior
Jocelyn Covaney just missed making the finals, placing ninth in 17.01. Rhodes posted a time of 17.17 and junior
Erin Graffeo finished in 17.85.
Morrison also just missed the qualifying in the 100-meters, placing ninth in 12.88, while freshman
Arianna Shirak posted a time of 13.33.
Covaney got the last qualifying spot in the 400-meter hurdles, run after a 90-minute rain delay, finishing in 1:10.81, while Graffeo was 10
th in 1:15.74.
Field events begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday and the running events conclude the event between 3:30-4 p.m. A full list of events may be found at
