SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee women's soccer garnered the No. 3 seed and will play Southwestern University in the quarterfinals of the SAA Championships this Thursday at 3 p.m. CT in Memphis, Tenn., as announced Sunday by the conference office.
The Tigers (9-2-4, 3-1-3 SAA) defeated the Pirates, 2-1, at Southwestern on October 11, with
Susie Whitsett and
Kylene Monaghan each scoring a goal and handing out an assist.
Sewanee was 3-0-2 on October 25 before a draw against Berry College and a loss to Centre College dropped them to the No. 3 seed, ending a streak of three consecutive regular season championships for the club.
Sewanee has won the last two SAA Championship titles and posts a 9-2 mark in the conference tournament over the last four seasons. The Tigers are 15-10 all-time in the league tourney.
The winner of Thursday's match will play host Rhodes College at 3 p.m. on Friday in the semifinals. More information about the conference tournament may be found at
