SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee sophomore Andrew Olson posted six first-place finishes, including two of the top times in the backstroke in the conference, garnering SAA Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Monday.
The Atlanta, Ga., native registered a personal-best and the No. 2 time in the SAA in the 200-meter backstroke in Friday's dual meet against UT Southern, winning in 1:55.18. He won the 50-meter freestyle in 21.58, a Top 5 mark in the league, and contributed to a first-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a leadoff time of 21.80.
On Saturday the sophomore recorded another Top 5 time in the SAA in the 100-meter backstroke, winning in 51.84 while also placing first in the 50-meter freestyle in 21.59. He anchored the 200-meter freestyle relay as well with a 20.84 split on the winning team.
