Eric Jurkovic set a school record in the 200-yard medley relay for Sewanee men's swimming and diving over the weekend at the Speedo Centre Invitational in Danville, Ky.
FRIDAY
Olsen finished 10
th in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.29, improving his time in the Top 10 in school history, while senior
Josh Kim placed 20
th in 21.76 and Jurkovic and Nabors were 22
nd and 23
rd, respectively, with times of 21.37 and 21.82. Jurkovic's mark moves him into the Top 10 in program annals. Sophomore Henry Lindeman III placed 19
th in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:50.91 while freshman
Ryder Griffin was 21
st in 4:50.31 and sophomore
Tyler Foster placed 30
th in 4:59.17.
Kim, Jurkovic, Nabors and Olsen finished ninth in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:25.42, a Top 10 mark in program history. Olsen, Mangum, Nabors and Kim placed 10
th in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:27.68, a Top 10 time in program history and Foster, freshman
Mason Horner, Lindeman III and Jurkovic were 17
th in 3:35.65.
SATURDAY
Olsen, Mangum, Nabors and Jurkovic placed third in the 200-yard medley relay in a school-record 1:31.31 while Foster, Horner, Lindeman III and Kim were 16
th in 1:37.46. Olsen, Lindeman III, Griffin and Nabors finished sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 7:00.37, a Top 10 mark in program annals, and Foster, freshman Jon Brettschneider, Jurkovic and junior
Jackson Pillow were 16
th in 7:22.62.
Olsen won the A final in the 100 backstroke in 49.00, an NCAA 'B' cut time. Foster placed 16
th in 52.75 and Pillow was 26
th in 55.05. Brettschneider finished 14
th in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:26.62 and junior
Connor Young was 22
nd in 4:46.87.
Jurkovic placed 23
rd in the 100-yard butterfly in 53.97 while Pillow and Kim were 26
th and 27
th, respectively, with times of 54.66 and 54.91. Nabors finished 17
th in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.97 and Lindeman III (1:47.34) and Griffin (1:47.38) placed 25
th and 26
th, respectively.
Mangum finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.43 and Horner was 22
nd in 1:00.60.
In diving freshman
Jonah Kearns finished third in the one-meter with 486.50 points, a school-record mark, while
Korbin Smith was 11
th for the Tigers.
SUNDAY
Olsen placed third in the 100-yard freestyle in a school-record 45.35 and Kim finished 22
nd in 47.68. Nabors (47.83), Jurkovic (47.87) and Griffin (48.49) were 24
th, 25
th and 28
th, respectively.
Kim finished sixth in the 100-yard individual medley in 55.29 and Foster placed eighth in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:54.12 while Pillow was 21
st in 2:02.32 and Young came across in 2:06.72 for 25
th.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Horner placed 18
th in 2:16.34 and Lindeman III finished 12
th in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:02.55 while Brettschneider was 19
th in 2:10.25 and Young came across in 2:21.53 for 25
th.
Brettschneider placed 17
th in the 1650-yard freestyle in 17:24.00 and sophomore
Bryson Reid was 21
st in 17:54.69.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Nabors, Kim, Jurkovic and Olsen finished seventh in 3:07.81, a Top 10 time in school history, and Mangum, Foster, Griffin and Lindeman III were 15
th in 3:16.30.
In the three-meter diving, Kearns finished fourth with 441.40 points, a Top 10 mark in school history, and Smith was 10
th.
The swim and dive teams take a break until hosting the Sewanee Invitational on January 10.
