Men's Swimming and Diving

Olsen and Francell lead Sewanee at Berry

SEWANEE, Tenn. –Andrew Olsen collected two individual wins and a relay victory, while Audrey Francell added two wins and a pair of runner-up finishes, as Sewanee's swimming and diving teams fell to Berry on Friday night in Rome, Ga.

On the women's side, Ada Digby collected the first win in the 50-yard freestyle (24.83), while Caroline Johnston, Natalia Evans, McKenna Reed, and Audrey Francell teamed up to take first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:47.40). Francell also claimed a win in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.51) and added a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle (2:02.49).

Johnston had an impressive day in the backstroke events, finishing first in the 200 backstroke (2:16.98) and second in the 100 backstroke (1:03.13). Evans was second in the 100 freestyle (56.84) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:07.13), while Eleanor Bishop earned runner-up finishes in both the 100 breaststroke (1:11.72) and 200 breaststroke (2:34.57).

Ella Deitch added second-place finishes in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.64, 2nd) and 200 individual medley (2:19.33, 2nd). Sarah Beth Roady collected a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:31.38), and Grace Gearhart also placed third in the 200 butterfly (2:26.11). The 200-yard medley relay (1:54.07) of Johnston, Bishop, Digby, and Reed also earned a second-place showing.

In the diving events, Anne Claud swept both boards, winning the 1-meter and 3-meter events, while Zoe Napier and Lily Stooksbury took second and third, respectively, on each.

On the men's side, Andrew Olsen continued his strong start to the season with wins in the 100 freestyle (46.97) and 200 freestyle (1:44.52), while anchoring Sewanee's first-place 400 freestyle relay (3:11.33) with Carter Nabors, Josh Kim, and Henry Lindeman. Olsen also added a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:34.13). 

Naeem Mangum picked up an individual victory in the 100 breaststroke (59.51) and added a fourth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.83). Lindeman was second in the 1000 freestyle (10:15.33) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:07.48), while Nabors secured second in the 100 freestyle (48.49) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:46.42).

Tyler Foster came in third in the 200 backstroke (1:59.38) and fourth in the 100 backstroke (54.19), while Jon Brettschneider added a third-place finish in both the 200 butterfly (2:08.12) and 200 individual medley (2:07.01).

In diving, Pierce Browning swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, while Jonah Kearns and Korbin Smith rounded out the top three in each event.

The Tigers return to action next weekend as they host the University of Tennessee Southern back at the Fowler Center Natatorium for a 6 pm start on Friday, Nov. 7.
