Tigers wrap weekend with wins over Transylvania and Midway

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's men's and women's swimming and diving teams capped a strong weekend with another pair of victories on Saturday, earning wins in a double-dual meet against Transylvania and Midway.

The Tigers opened the meet with second-place finishes in both 200 Medley Relays. On the women's side, Natalia Evans, Grace Gearhart, Audrey Francell, and Ada Digby combined for a 1:58.70, while the men's relay of Tyler Foster, Naeem Mangum, Ryder Griffin, and Josh Kim recorded a 1:40.37.

Distance events set the tone early. Adelina Willett won the women's 1,000 freestyle by more than a minute, touching in 11:43.32, while Foster completed the sweep with a time of 10:39.21 in the men's race.

Sewanee continued to find success in the 200 Freestyle, where Sarah Beth Roady took the top spot for the women, and Henry Lindeman III and Eric Jurkovic finished first and second, respectively, for the men. In the 50 Freestyle, Andrew Olsen won the men's race in 21.59, while Carter Nabors placed third in 22.70. On the women's side, McKenna Reed finished second in 26.08.

The Tigers swept the women's 400 IM, as Ella Deitch won in 4:57.71 and Gearhart followed in 5:07.53. Jon Brettschneider earned a second-place finish on the men's side with a time of 4:30.32. Nabors added another win for Sewanee in the 100 Butterfly, clocking a 55.19.

Sewanee swept the 100 Freestyle as well. Francell won the women's race in 56.09, followed by Caroline Johnston in third at 58.85. Jurkovic and Griffin went one-two for the men in 49.71 and 50.70. Olsen and Foster claimed first and third in the 100 Backstroke with times of 51.84 and 55.96.

Deitch picked up her second individual win with a 5:33.67 in the 500 Freestyle, while Lindeman III won the men's race in 5:02.00, with Brettschneider placing third in 5:15.76. In the 100 Breaststroke, Eleanor Bishop earned the win for the women in 1:12.88, and Mangum secured the men's victory in 59.62.

Sewanee closed the meet with a sweep in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Digby, Reed, Evans, and Francell touched first in 1:43.05, while the men's relay of Lindeman III, Kim, Griffin, and Olsen posted a winning time of 1:28.50.

On the boards, Jonah Kearns swept both diving events, scoring 289.95 on the 1-meter and 259.28 on the 3-meter. In women's diving, Zoe Napier and Lily Stooksbury finished second and third, respectively, in both events.

Sewanee will close out its fall season at the Centre Invitational on Nov. 21-23, before resuming in the new year with a home meet on January 10.
