Catapano cards second straight 74, places fifth at Triangle Invite

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Freshman Natalie Catapano posted a second straight two-over 74 while freshmen Anna Claire Gibson and Rachel Waters both shot 77 for Sewanee women's soccer Tuesday in the second and final round of the Historic Triangle Invitational at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
 
The Tigers carded a team score of 312 for the second consecutive play and finished eighth among 14 teams.
 
Catapano started the round with birdies on holes 9 and 10 and compiled six consecutive pars before another birdie, this one at No. 17. The Pacific Palisades, Calif., native bogeyed 18 and recorded four pars and four birdies to close out the day with two-over 74 and a 36-hole score of 148, fifth individually. Emory University's Amanda Zheng and Carnegie Mellon's Samantha Wang shared low medalist honors with a final score of 143.
 
Gibson bogeyed her first hole of the day, No. 11, but followed that with birdies on 12 and 14. The Knoxville, Tenn., native made one more bogey on the back nine and registered another birdie on two. She then recorded four bogeys and a double bogey over a six-hole stretch and netted two pars to finish the round at five-over 77 and a two-round total of 157, 38th individually.
 
Waters started at No. 13 and collected four pars and two bogeys on her first six holes. The Nashville, Tenn., native added seven more pars with one bogey and one double on the front nine and made a birdie at 10 and a bogey on 11, carding a five-over 77 for a 36-hole score of 162, tied for 51st.
 
Freshman Maeve Fitzgerald began the day at No. 12 and tallied three pars and four bogeys on her first seven holes. The Meridian, Idaho, native added four pars, three bogeys and two doubles on the front nine and had one more bogey, finishing with an 84 and a two-round total of 166, tied for 60th.
 
Senior Jane Stilz recorded four pars, four bogeys and one double on the back nine, starting at No. 10. The Lexington, Ky., native made just two pars with seven bogeys on the front, shooting 85 for a 36-hole score of 161, tied for 49th.
 
Sewanee concludes the fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday with a B team event at the Chick-fil-A Invitational in Rome, Ga.
