Jane Stilz posted even-par 72 while freshman
Natalie Catapano shot 76 and Sewanee women's golf finished sixth as a team Tuesday in the final round of the Golfweek Fall Classic at The Links at Sandestin in Destin, Fla.
The Tigers moved up two spots in the team standings on the final day and placed sixth, ahead of six other SAA teams in the field, including Trinity University, Oglethorpe University, Southwestern University, Centre College, Rhodes College and Berry College.
Stilz recorded eight pars and one bogey on the front nine (all Sewanee players started at No. 1 on Tuesday). The Lexington, Ky., native collected only three pars on the back nine, registering birdies on 10, 12, 14 and 17 along with one bogey and a double bogey for even-par 72 and a 54-hole score of 229, tied for 24
th. She moved up 21 spots in the individual standings in the final round.
Catapano started the round with 13 consecutive pars before a bogey at No. 14. The Pacific Palisades, Calif., native also made a double at 16 and a bogey on 18 for four-over 76 and a three-round total of 219, tied for fifth.
Freshman
Anna Claire Gibson shot one-over on the front nine with seven pars, a double and a birdie at No. 8. The Knoxville, Tenn., native collected eight pars on the back side but made a quadruple bogey at No. 13, carding a five-over 77 and a 54-hole score of 231, tied for 31
st.
Junior
Olivia Bentley posted four pars, four bogeys and a double on the front nine Tuesday. The Nashville, Tenn., native netted six more bogeys on the back side but ended the day with a birdie at No. 18, shooting 83 for a three-round total of 247, tied for 73
rd.
Junior
Payton Burch improved her score for the third straight round, making at birdie at No. 2 along with three bogeys on the front nine. The Elgin, S.C., native made a double and a triple bogey in the first three holes on the back but rebounded with two birdies and two bogeys over the last four holes, registering a final-round 79 and a 54-hole score of 257.
Sewanee plays again next week in the Historic Triangle Invitational at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
