ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) released the Women's Golf postseason award following the 2023 SAA Championship on Sunday. Four from the University of the South were recognized on the postseason listing.
Three women's golfers,
Nicole Nesbitt,
E.C. Niebauer and
Merrick Semans, were named to the First Team.
Sabrina Nesbitt was a part of the Second Team.
Niebauer also picked up more hardware on Sunday, as she was named the league's SAA Newcomer of the Year. Poising as the best first-year in the conference according to the GolfStat rankings, she is also the 11th-best freshman in the country.
Ranked 62nd overall in the GolfStat rankings, the High Point, N.C. native averaged 78.41 strokes in 17 rounds for second-best on the squad. At the SAA Championships last weekend, she carded a 236 (79-78-79) for 17th in the event.
N. Nesbitt earned her third All-SAA accolade in her career, and this is the second straight season she has been chosen to the First Team. Setting a new 54-hole career low at the SAAs last weekend, the senior fired a 226 (76-75-75) to earn fifth place at the event. The Newport Beach, Calif. native has a 78.81 stroke average in 16 rounds this season.
Semans, after collecting Second Team honors last season, garners a First Team nod in 2023. Leading the Tigers in scoring average with a 77.47 in 19 rounds, the Winston-Salem, N.C. native fired a seventh place score of 227 (76-72-79). The junior is ranked 60th in the GolfStat rankings.
S. Nesbitt collects her second straight All-SAA honor in as many seasons. The sophomore recorded a 231 (77-75-79) at the SAA Championships last weekend for an eighth place result. Posting the third-lowest stroke average on the team with a 78.68, the Newport Beach, Calif. native is 80th in the nation according to the GolfStat rankings.
