Catapano finishes second, Tigers win SAA Fall Classic

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Natalie Catapano carded a three-under-par 69 to finish second individually, as Sewanee's women's golf team finished first at the SAA Fall Classic at Greystone Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers finished with a two-round score of 18-over-par, carding a four-over-par 292 in the final round to finish 13 strokes ahead of Trinity in second place.

Catapano started on No. 10 and shot even-par on the back nine, recording a birdie on No. 11 and a bogey on No. 18. She opened the front nine with four birdies and a par on Nos. 1-5 before adding another birdie on No. 8. Despite a double bogey on No. 9, Catapano finished three-under-par with a 69 to take second place individually.

Elizabeth Bowman shot an even-par 72 to finish tied for fourth individually. Bowman started on No. 11 with three consecutive pars before recording a birdie and bogey on Nos. 14 and 15. A bogey on No. 18 put the sophomore one-over-par at the turn, but back-to-back birdies on Nos. 3 and 4 moved her back under par. She added a bogey on No. 8 to finish the round at even-par.

Anna Claire Gibson carded a three-over-par 75 to finish tied for eighth. The sophomore started on No. 12 and recorded five bogeys on the back nine. She added a bogey and double bogey to move to three-over-par before the turn. Gibson recorded seven pars on the front nine, along with a birdie and bogey, before adding a bogey and birdie on Nos. 10 and 11 to close out her round.

Freshman Cat Gavin finished tied for 13th after carding a four-over-par 76. The Hilton Head, S.C., native started with a bogey on No. 13 before recording five consecutive pars on Nos. 14-18. She opened the front nine with three bogeys before adding another on No. 8, but closed with a birdie on No. 9. Gavin added a bogey on No. 10 and a birdie on No. 11 before finishing with a par.

Rachel Waters recorded a hole-in-one on No. 3 and finished tied for 23rd with a five-over-par 77 in the final round. The sophomore started on No. 13 and carded a birdie on No. 14 before adding bogeys on Nos. 15 and 18. She added a bogey on No. 2 before recording her ace on No. 3. Waters closed the round with three bogeys and a double bogey on No. 11.

Payton Burch shot a seven-over-par 79 to finish seventh individually. The senior recorded 11 pars and seven bogeys for a two-round score of six-over-par.

Olivia Bently started on No. 1 with a double bogey and a bogey before recording two pars and another double bogey on No. 5. She added a birdie on No. 8 to close the front nine four-over-par. The senior recorded six pars on the back nine, along with two bogeys and a double bogey, to finish the round eight-over-par and tied for 31st.

Lila Weaver also shot an eight-over-par 80 in the final round to finish 35th.

Maeve Fitzgerald and Anna Louise Chesnut both carded rounds of 11-over-par, with Fitzgerald finishing tied for 10th and Chesnut tied for 26th. Emilee Ferguson shot 13-over-par to finish tied for 31st.
