Antoine Secures SAA Player of the Week Accolade for Second Time

ATLANTA - Announced on Monday by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), the University of the South's Kayla Antoine was named the SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week after her performance in Sewanee's weekend games with Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps.

Selected by the league office, it is the second time that the junior has garnered player of the week status this season.

Over two games this past weekend, Antoine recorded her second 30-20 game in as many weeks with a 30-point, 22 rebound performance against Birmingham-Southern. Posting 12 offensive rebounds, she missed the SAA record for rebounds by one.

From the field, Antoine knocked down 14-of-19 shots.

Adding 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Millsaps, Antoine shot 21-of-29 (72.4%) from the field with 48 points and 32 rebounds.

Antoine is the first Sewanee women's player with at least two 30-point games since Bella Taylor C'19 when she did it three times in 2018 and four times in 2017.

The Nashville, Tenn. native leads the SAA in rebounding (10.6) and is fifth in scoring (15.8). Nationally, her 213 rebounds are 21st-best and her 10 double-doubles on the season is good for 24th in Division III.

Antoine and the rest of the Tigers return to action this weekend for their final road trip of the regular season. Sewanee will head west to take on Hendrix Friday night before finishing the weekend at Rhodes on Sunday.
