HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The No. 22 University of the South women's golf team opened the 2022-23 fall portion of its schedule with a 13th place finish at the NCAA Division III National Preview from El Campeon Golf Course.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Sabrina Nesbitt had a phenomenal day on Monday after her first round of 82. The sophomore posted two birdies and nine pars to soar 26 spots to 33rd at the event with a 159 (82-77). Finishing with five birdies on the weekend, she averaged an even five strokes per round on par 5s.

Merrick Semans carded a 164 (79-85) for a 55th place score.

Nicole Nesbitt (84-82) and
Becca Gorman (84-82) each fired a 166 and moved up 11 spots on Monday.
Mary Browder Howell (77-89) also scored a 166. Howell also chipped in four birdies.
-An Shelmire led the tournament with a 146 (75-71) to win the event. Redlands's Kendall Nicholson (147) shot a 70 in the final round to move up 17 spots to earn runner-up.
TEAM LEADERBOARD
-Sewanee posted a 36-hole score of 648 (322-326). Berry (655), who is one spot ahead of Sewanee in the preseason coaches poll, finished seven strokes behind the Tigers.
-Redlands (Calif.) (605) fired a team score of 299 in the final round on Monday to win the event by eight strokes.
UP NEXT
Sewanee has a quick turnaround, as they will head to Montgomery, Alabama next week for the MCC Women's Intercollegiate.
