Late Goals by Colonels Doom Field Hockey on the Road

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Sewanee field hockey team suffered a 3-1 defeat to the hands of the Centre Colonels as the home team netted two goals in the final five minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Centre started the scoring in the eighth minute with a Savannah Elpers goal.

-The Sewanee defense held tough to get the contest tied up. The Tigers took one shot for the entire game and they made it count. Ceara Caffrey scored her 17th goal of the season off an Anne Shea pass in the 50th minute.

-However, the Colonels, who took 13 shots in 70 minutes, scored the go-ahead goal in the 66th minute before adding an insurance goal in the 69th minute.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Ceara Caffrey scored the lone goal in the contest.

-Nikki Ereli recorded two defensive saves. The senior now has 16 saves in her career.

-Rachel Blum (3-4) saved two shots in full time.

CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Savannah Elpers recorded a goal on five shots, while Sarah Biggs also scored a goal on four total shots.

-Kristen Mulcahy (10-3) recorded the win.
