ATLANTA (Jan. 29, 2016) – Down by 10 to start the third quarter, the Sewanee women's basketball team rallied back for a 64-60 victory over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Oglethorpe, Friday, inside Dorough Field House.

The win snapped the Tigers'  two-game losing streak. Sewanee is now 11-7 overall and 3-4 in league play. The Stormy Petrels dropped to 7-10 overall and 1-5 in conference action.

Early on, Sewanee struggled. The Tigers made only 28.6 percent of their first quarter shots. Oglethorpe built its eight-point first-quarter lead behind making 61.5 percent of its shots.

Down by 10, 30-20 with 4:04 left before halftime, Sewanee answered back with two free throws by Haley McDonough and a layup by Corey Caulder. However, Oglethorpe closed the half when Baily Charles hit a jumper with 11 seconds left.

Despite a slow start, Sewanee picked up its offense the first 10 minutes out of the locker room. Sewanee made 66.7 percent of its shots in the third quarter. A layup by Caulder early in the third quarter sparked a 12-0 run by Sewanee over a three-minute stretch. In fact, a traditional three-point play by freshman Bella Taylor pulled Sewanee to within a possession with 3:18 left in the third.

Oglethorpe slowed the Tigers run when Madi Foltz and Emily Buck scored the Stormy Petrels' final five points to end the quarter.

Down five to start the quarter, Sewanee made the first five shots of the fourth. During that stretch, Taylor, Jamie Chauvin, Caulder, and Katie Wayne all scored. In fact, it was Wayne's three with 6:06 to play which gave Sewanee a 52-47 lead.

From there, Sewanee never let up. The Tigers never trailed again. That included six free throws by Taylor down the stretch that closed the victory.

Overall, Sewanee outshot Oglethorpe with a 40.7 shooting percentage. The Tigers also forced 19 turnovers which included 11 steals.

Individually, Caulder had 18 points and six rebounds. She was joined in double figures by Taylor, with 14, and Chauvin and Katie Roth, whom each finished with 10.

Charles led Oglethorpe with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Sewanee continues its annual Georgia conference road trip with a 1:00 p.m. (EST) contest at Berry, Sunday.
