Sewanee rolls past Transy, 6-2

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2014) – The Sewanee field hockey team rolled past Southern Athletic Association (SAA) affiliate Transylvania 6-2, Saturday, at Puett Field.

Emma Horgan scored the first two Tiger goals. With six minutes off the clock, Horgan deflected a shot into the back of the cage off the stick of Virginia Barry.

Six minutes later, Horgan tapped in a rebound off the keeper's pad to push the Sewanee lead to 2-0.

After a Transy scored off a shot from Jessie Wilson, senior Zuie Billings ripped in a loose ball to push the Tiger lead to 3-1.

In the second half Monica Bueso, Carrie Anderson, and Katie Wilson all scored. Additionally, Billings and Kya Wence also finished with assists.

Along with those players who finished with points, Allegra Massey-Elim led the attack with seven shots.

As a team, Sewanee finished with 32 shots and 16 corners.

The Tigers continue SAA play with a noon (EST) match at Centre next Saturday.
