Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2013) – Despite a career-high 19 points by sophomore Kayla Sewell, the Sewanee women's basketball team fell at Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes, 61-49, Friday.
After Rhodes opened on an 8-0 run, Sewanee temporarily slowed the spurt when Sewell hit a jumper midway through the half.
Unfortunately, the Lynx continued to roll from there. Rhodes outscored the Tigers 26-19 over the final seven minutes of the first half.
Out of the locker room, Rhodes kept playing well. The Lynx opened on another 8-0 run which stretched their lead to 21, 42-21.
Despite the tough loss, Sewanee shot its highest field-goal percentage in a conference game this season. The Tigers finished 19-of-46 (41.3 percent) from the floor.
Along with her 19 points, Sewell also added a game-high 11 rebounds. Additionally, the sophomore forward made 80 percent of her attempts.
Joining Sewell in double-figures was freshman Jamie Chauvin, who added 11 points.
The Tigers will close out their 2012-13 regular season at Hendrix, Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
