Sewanee improves to 5-2 with a tough win at Boyce

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 7, 2013) – After shooting a season-high 53 percent, the Sewanee men's basketball team improved to 5-2 this season with a 68-64 win at Boyce College Saturday.

After building a 10-point halftime lead, 40-30, the Tigers held off a late charge by Boyce in the second half.

Along with making 53 percent of its field goals, Sewanee also hit a season-high 50 percent of its three-point attempts.

Individually, freshman point guard Jorden Williams scored a team-high 18 points on 5-of-11 attempts. Sophomore forward Keshonn Carter also finished in double digits with 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Ben Akers led Boyce with a game-high 19 points. Austin Murphy and B.J. Wright also pitched in 16 points for Boyce.

The Tigers will close out the semester with an 8:00 p.m. contest against Johnson University, Tuesday.
