Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Jan. 27, 2013) – A 23-9 run to start the second half lifted Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Hendrix past the Sewanee women's basketball team, 60-49, Sunday inside Juhan Gymnasium.
Early on the game was a different story. Sewanee led throughout the first 10 minutes after the Tigers made 55 percent of their attempts. Behind scores from Paige Lowe, Kayla Sewell, Clarissa Medley, and Jamie Chauvin, Sewanee held a 17-12 advantage with 10:14 to go.
From there, the Warriors went on a mini 7-2 run to tie the game, 19-19, with 7:19 left until halftime.
In the final minutes, both teams continued their tight affair with Sewanee taking a one-point lead into the break.
Unfortunately, the Warriors started to pull away in the second half after Cait Kriesel-Bigler hit a layup with 17:01 to go.
Despite making its highest field-goal percentage in three weeks, the Tigers were undone by 13 turnovers. Hendrix took advantage of those opportunities with 16 additional points.
Additionally, the Warriors dominate the paint outscoring Sewanee 26-12 inside.
Individually, Lowe continued her outstanding play. The guard from nearby Tullahoma, Tenn., finished with a career-high 23 points.
Joining Lowe in double figures was Chauvin, who added 13 points.
Sewanee returns to action at Berry, Feb. 1st. Tip-off is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m.
