Tigers fall at No. 16 Emory

ATLANTA (Nov. 27, 2012) – After starting the season 2-0, the Sewanee women's basketball team finally dropped its first contest Tuesday as No. 16 Emory defeated the Tigers 79-47 inside the Woodruff PE Center.

From the start, Emory came out strong. The Eagles jumped out to a 12-0 lead before a timeout by Sewanee set up a three by guard Paige Lowe.

Unfortunately, Emory responded with a 7-0 run to lead 19-3 with just over five minutes off the clock.

After Emory led 46-20 at the half, the Tigers improved out of the locker room. Sewanee hit 37.5 percent of its attempts in the second half compared to just 33.3 percent in the first half.

Additionally, the Tigers connected on 4-of-7 three-pointers in the second half.

Individually, Lowe led the Tigers with 11 points. The junior was joined by sophomore forward Kayla Sewell, who added nine points and a game-high seven rebounds.

Emory finished with five players in double figures. Of those players, guard Hannah Lilly led the way after she finished 7-of-10 from the floor with a game-high 18 points.

The Tigers will look to get back on track when they welcome Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre to Juhan Gymnasium, Saturday. That contest is schedule to tipoff at 1:00 p.m.
