LYNCHBURG, Va. (Sept. 4, 2011) – For the second straight day the Sewanee women's soccer team could not overcome a pair of goals as Roanoke College outlasted the Tigers 2-0 Sunday to close out the Shellenberger Classic in Lynchburg, Va.
With the win the Maroons move to 2-0 on the season after victories over the Tigers and SCAC rival Birmingham-Southern. With the loss Sewanee falls to 0-2 after its opening weekend.
Junior forward Cindy Suttora opened the scores with a goal in the first half from classmate Rebekah Adams, while freshman forward Sarah Valero found the back of the net for the third time in the tournament to put the match away.
Despite falling in both their contests this weekend, the Tigers will look to get back on track as they take regional-rival Berry College Thursday in Mount Berry, Ga.
