SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee women's soccer fell to No. 2-ranked Washington and Lee on Friday afternoon, 2-0 at Puett Field.

Sewanee battled No. 2 Washington and Lee throughout the first half before the Generals broke through in the 42nd minute. Megan Zimmerman connected with Elizabeth Zimmerman, whose initial shot was saved by Emilee Scott before rolling across the goal line to give Washington and Lee a 1-0 lead.

Elizabeth Zimmerman added her second goal of the afternoon in the 64th minute, finding the back of the net off the inside of the post to extend the Generals' lead to 2-0.

Sewanee looked to cut into the deficit late in the match, as Josie Alexander forced a finger-tip save from Washington and Lee goalkeeper Kate McEnroe with a shot toward the top left corner in the 87th minute. McEnroe made the stop to preserve the shutout.

Washington and Lee finished with an 11-4 advantage in shots, while both teams recorded three corner kicks. McEnroe made three saves for the Generals, while Scott recorded one save in the first half and Ashley Vinck played the second half in goal for the Tigers.
