Women's Soccer Picks Up a Win in Birmingham, Remains Unbeaten

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Sewanee and Berry kicked off Birmingham-Southern's women's soccer invitational this weekend and after Berry scored first on a 22nd minute Kristen Brooks goal, Sewanee scored two unanswered to get the 2-1 win.

Kate Willingham (Atlanta, Ga., Marist) scored unassisted for Sewanee in the 28th minute to knot the score at one apiece. In the second half, Lilly Barnett (Abilene, Texas, Abilene) scored the game-winner for the Tigers off of a Lizzie Butler (Carrabelle, Fla., Wakulla) assist just two minutes into the period. The Tigers held off the Vikings for the remaining 43 minutes for the one-goal win. Britt Williams (Birmingham, Ala., Altamont) had four saves in goal for Sewanee.

Sewanee remains unbeaten at 2-0 an will face the Choctaws of Mississippi College at 1pm on Sunday in Birmingham. Berry takes its first loss tonight and is 2-1-1 going into its Sunday afternoon matchup with the host Panthers.
