LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Covenant's women's basketball team hosted Sewanee Tuesday evening and got out to a 45-36 lead before halftime. In the second, Sewanee outscored the Scots 35-28, but Covenant held on for the 73-71 lead.
Lauren Gulley (Winchester, Tenn., Franklin County) led Sewanee's effort with 20 points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes of play. Senior
Jamie Robinson (Ft. Worth, Texas, Ft. Worth Country Day) had 15 points and
Danielle Kabbes (Chesterfield, Mo., Villa Duchesne) had 11. Kabbes also led the Tiger defense with five steals and four blocks. Erica Forland led the Scots with 24 points. Covenant had the edge in field goal percentage 40-29. Sewanee was also out-rebounded by Covenant 58-38.
Sewanee is now 2-5 and is 0-1 in the SCAC. The next Tiger action will be at home December 30 against St. Scholastica before hosting Rhodes and Birmingham-Southern January 1 and 3 in SCAC play.
