Rhodes Field Hockey Edges Out Sewanee

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Sewanee's field hockey team wrapped up an SCAC weekend on the road at Rhodes Sunday and the host Lynx edged out the purple Tigers 2-1. All three goals were scored in the first period and the second half was scoreless.

Sewanee's Molly Kennedy (Timonium, Md., Bryn Mawr) scored first, giving the Tigers the lead, but Rhodes answered with two goals to get the one-goal edge. Emily Detmer (Denver, Colo., Pomfret) played in goal for Sewanee and had one save, while Meghen Cullen also had one save in goal for the Lynx.

Sewanee is now 6-9 so far in 2009 and falls to 1-6 in the SCAC. Rhodes is 10-4, 6-1. Sewanee will play at DePauw and Lindenwood next weekend.
