Anne Wills was named to the Mike Durgala All-Tournament Team Sunday after her standout play in Sewanee's 70-68 heartbreaking loss to Albright at Johns Hopkins' tournament. Sewanee led 40-32 at the half.
The Tigers led the entire first half, with
Wills (Thomson, Ga., Briarwood) leading the Tiger effort with nine first half points.
Charlotte Ciccone led Albright with seven points in the first.
In the second period, Albright overtook Sewanee, gaining the lead with five minutes left and holding on for the two-point win. Sewanee hit 25 of 64 field goals (39%), while Albright was 47.5% accurate from the field. Wills led the Sewanee scoring drive with 17 total points on the day. Lauren Gulley (Winchester, Tenn., Franklin County) had 15 points on the day.
Carla Smiley (Nashville, Tenn., Father Ryan) and
Dani Kabbes (Chesterfield, Mo., Villa Duchesne) also got into double digits for Sewanee with 10 points each. Kabbes also led Sewanee with seven rebounds.
Sewanee falls to 0-3 and will face LaGrange in LaGrange, Ga. on Tuesday. Albright is 1-1 so far in 2008-09.
