Tigers win Lee and Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Cat Gavin carded a one-under 70 to finish in solo second place, leading the Sewanee women's golf team to a first-place finish at the Lee and Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational on Sunday at The Links at Audubon in Memphis, Tenn.

The Tigers finished with a 25-over 593, 15 strokes ahead of Piedmont in second place.

Gavin opened the round with an eagle on hole four and added a bogey on five to make the turn at one-under 34. The freshman opened the back nine with back-to-back bogeys before responding with a birdie on 12. Gavin added five pars and a birdie on 18 to finish with a one-under 70 and three-over 145 for the weekend, finishing solo second.

Elizabeth Bowman shot even par on the front nine with a birdie and a bogey. The sophomore added three bogeys and six pars on the back nine to card a three-over 74. Bowman finished seventh overall.

Payton Burch carded three bogeys on the front nine for a three-over 38. The senior opened the back nine with a birdie before adding three more bogeys to finish with a six-over 77. Burch finished tied for 12th at 11-over for the weekend.

Natalie Catapano finished tied for eighth at nine-over for the weekend after carding a six-over 77 on Sunday. The sophomore opened with back-to-back bogeys and added five pars before recording two more consecutive bogeys. Catapano added two pars before a bogey-birdie-bogey stretch on holes 12 through 14 and a bogey on 18 to close the round.

Maeve Fitzgerald carded a nine-over 80 on Sunday. The sophomore opened with a double-bogey on hole one and added three more bogeys on the front nine. Fitzgerald recorded seven pars on the back nine, along with a triple-bogey and a bogey, to finish tied for 10th at 10-over 152 for the weekend.

Competing as an individual, Anna Claire Gibson carded a four-over 75. Gibson opened with a clean front nine, recording eight pars and a birdie, before adding three bogeys and a double-bogey on the back nine. She finished tied for 23rd.
