Bowman leads Sewanee in opening round of Hollins Cup

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Elizabeth Bowman shot a nine-over 81 to tie for 30th place as the Sewanee women's golf team finished 11th after the opening round of the Hollins Cup at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The Tigers carded a 47-over 335. Emory leads the field at 10-over par, followed by WashU at 12-over par and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 19-over par.

Bowman led Sewanee with an 81, recording a birdie, six pars and two bogeys on the back nine. She added four bogeys and two double-bogeys on the front nine to finish nine-over par.

Maeve Fitzgerald finished with a 10-over 82 to tie for 39th. The sophomore carded a birdie and 10 pars but also recorded five bogeys, a double-bogey and a quadruple-bogey.

Payton Burch carded a 13-over 85 to tie for 48th. The senior recorded a birdie and eight pars, along with four bogeys and five double-bogeys.

Natalie Catapano finished with a 15-over 87. The sophomore was four-over par through the back nine before adding five bogeys and three double-bogeys on the front nine.

Cat Gavin rounded out the Sewanee lineup with a 17-over 89, tying for 58th. The freshman recorded a birdie and five bogeys, along with five double-bogeys and a triple-bogey.
