Tigers remain in sixth after second day of Golfweek October Classic

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Payton Burch shot par Monday afternoon, while the Sewanee Tigers ended the day in sixth place at the Golfweek October Classic in Destin, Florida.

Sewanee rebounded at 18 over par after finishing Sunday at 30 over. With 624 cumulative strokes (48 over), the Tigers sit behind Wisconsin-Eau Claire (+44). Mary Hardin-Baylor leads with a 23-over total.

Burch moved up to a tie for 11th Monday after entering the day tied for 32nd.

Burch birdied the fifth hole after going even in each of the first four. She shot par on the sixth but bogeyed the next two, tallying another par on the ninth, to close out the front nine at just one over.

On the back half, Burch once again parred five of the first six, with a birdie on the 11th. She bogeyed the 16th and parred the 17th before leveling her score with a birdie. Burch finished with 72 strokes.

Natalie Catapano sits tied at 24th on the individual leaderboard with a 13-over score. On Monday, she shot a four-over, bogeying on the seventh and eighth and parring on the other seven on the front end. On the back nine, Catapano began with two pars, followed by a birdie and a bogey. She went even on the 14th, 16, and 18th while bogeying on the 15th and 17th, ending with a tally of 76.

Elizabeth Bowman is also tied for 24th after a six-over performance Monday. She birdied twice, once on the seventh and again on the 13th. Throughout the round, she also collected four bogeys and two double bogeys while taking 78 strokes.

Cat Gavin concluded the round with an eight-over performance and sits tied for 35th at 16 over. She bogeyed three times, and she double and triple bogeyed once, shooting par otherwise, for a total of 80 strokes.

Maeve Fitzgerald is tied for 31st at 15 over. On Monday, she parred on every hole on the front end. On the back end, she parred in the 14th and 16th, and she also had six bogeys and a triple bogey. She finished nine over with 81 strokes.

The Golfweek October Classic concludes Tuesday.
