SEWANEE, Tenn. – Zach Fortman was named to All-Region teams by both the ABCA and by D3baseball.com, while
Charlie Teel was named to the
D3baseball.com All-Region second team.
Fortman, who earned First-Team All-SAA honors and his second time on an All-Conference team, was named to the Third-Team All-Region by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com. Despite missing eight games with an injury, the sophomore was among the SAA leaders in several categories all season, batting .374 with four doubles, five triples, nine home runs (program single-season record), 52 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He also has 23 walks, 11 hit by pitches and is 14-for-14 in stolen bases in 31 contests. The Clinton, S.C., native posted a program single-game record nine RBIs versus Asbury University in early March and drove in six runs in another contest against Millsaps College.
Teel, who was named Second-Team All-Region by D3baseball.com, played in 150 career games with 148 starts in four years at Sewanee, starting every game each of the last three seasons. He is hitting .312 with 13 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 41 RBIs and 44 runs scored in 41 contests. He also has 20 walks and 10 hit by pitches. The Charleston, S.C., native has hit safely in 31-of-41 contests with 13 multi-hit games, including four three-hit contests. Teel has raised his average 66 points over the last 13 games, hitting .440 (22-for-50) with six doubles, three homers, 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored during that stretch. In conference games he is batting .346 (28-for-81) with eight doubles, three home runs, 18 RBIs and 24 runs scored in 21 contests.
The Tigers finished the 2026 season with a 21-19-1 record, tying the program record for wins in a season, and ended the season in the SAA Baseball Conference Championships.
