Tigers sit in 10th after two rounds of NCAA Championships

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Colin Edwards carded a one-under par 70, while Aidan Tudor and Elias Becker each posted two-over 73s in the second round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships on the Las Colinas course at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

The Tigers sit in 10th place after two rounds of the NCAA Championships, earning a spot among the top 18 teams advancing to the final two rounds.

Edwards opened his round with a birdie on No. 10 and followed with four consecutive pars before a bogey on No. 15. The senior responded with five straight pars and added a birdie on No. 3 before closing with six consecutive pars to finish at one-under 70. Edwards is tied for eighth place at three-under through two rounds.

Tudor registered a one-under performance on his opening nine, recording one birdie and eight pars. The freshman then carded three bogeys over the first four holes of his second nine but steadied with five straight pars to close at two-over 73. The New Market, Md., native is tied for 51st place at four-over.

Becker played his first nine to even par, highlighted by a birdie on No. 13 and a bogey on No. 11. The senior encountered difficulty on his final nine with bogeys on Nos. 2, 3, and 5 before finishing with a birdie on No. 9 to post a two-over 73. The Mexico City, Mexico, native is tied for 131st place at 11-over.

Turner Chiles began his round with a bogey and a double bogey over his first three holes. He responded with six pars and two birdies on Nos. 14 and 16, but later recorded four consecutive bogeys on Nos. 3 through 6. Chiles closed with two pars and a birdie to finish with a four-over 75 and is tied for 106th place.

Niel Phillips opened his round with a bogey and added three more on his first nine before stringing together five consecutive pars to make the turn. The sophomore posted a birdie but also recorded additional bogeys on his final nine to finish at five-over 76, placing him tied for 78th.
