Aidan Tudor posted rounds of 71-69 and made a hole-in-one in the first round Saturday to share the individual lead at the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational.

Tudor makes hole-in-one, tied for individual lead

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Freshman Aidan Tudor carded rounds of 71-69, including a hole-in-one in the first round, while senior Elias Becker shot a second-round 68, helping Sewanee men's golf to first place in the team standings after the first two rounds of the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational at Cherokee Run Golf Club in Conyers, Ga.
 
Tudor is tied for the overall lead with Emory University's Kevin Mu at four-under par after 36 holes while the Tigers hold a six-stroke advantage over Huntingdon College and Emory headed into Sunday's final round.
 
Tudor started the day at No. 7 with two pars before making bogeys on nine and 10. He then birdied No. 11 and hit a pitching wedge on the 138-yard 12th for his hole-in-one. He bogeyed 13 but came back with a birdie at No. 14 and then four pars to finish the back nine. Tudor recorded four more pars with a birdie on one and one more bogey to finish at one-under 71 in the first round.
 
The New Market, Md., native collected seven pars and four birdies in his first 11 holes in the second half, including three straight birdies on 13, 14 and 15. His only miscue was a bogey at 18 and he finished the round with six consecutive pars for a three-under 69 and a two-round total of 140.
 
Becker bogeyed No. 9 to begin his first round but registered six pars and birdies on holes 12 and 14 before a bogey at No. 18. He made five pars and three bogeys on the remainder of the front nine for an opening-round three-over 75.
 
The Mexico City, Mexico native rebounded nicely in the second half, making a pair at No. 9 and then four birdies and five pars on the back nine, including birdies on 10, 13, 17 and 18. He added another birdie at No. 1 but doubled three before two more birdies on four and five. He ended the day with a bogey at eight but still posted a second-round four-under 68 for a 36-hole score of 143, tied for fourth.
 
Senior Colin Edwards started fast with birdies on holes eight, 10 and 12 to begin the first round before a bogey at No. 13. He also birdied the 17th hole, making the turn at three-under. He added one more birdie on the front nine, on the fifth hole, but collected a double bogey and a bogey for a one-under 71 in the opening round.
 
The Brookhaven, Ga., native started at hole eight again and shot two-over in the first 11 holes with three bogeys, seven pars and a birdie at No. 18. He tallied five more pars on the front nine but also a bogey and a double for a second-round 77 and a two-round total of 148, tied for 14th.
 
Sophomore Turner Chiles triple bogeyed his second hole of the first round, No. 6, but played the next eight holes in one-under with seven pars and a birdie on 10. He collected bogeys on holes 15 and 16 and added a birdie on 18 and another at No. 4 to post a two-over 74 for the first 18 holes.
 
The Houston, Texas, native bogeyed No. 5 to begin the second round and recorded another triple, this one at eight, along with bogeys on holes 11, 12 and 16. He countered the bogeys with three birdies in a five-hole stretch, on holes 14, 17 and 18, and posted a birdie at No. 1 along with one more bogey for a second-round 76 and a 36-hole score of 150, tied for 18th.
 
Sophomore Niel Phillips struggled on his first nine holes with five bogeys and a double on holes 7-15. He birdied 17 but collected another bogey at 18 and finished with five consecutive pars for a first-round 79.
 
The New Orleans, La., native played much better in the second round, starting with four pars before alternating birdies and bogeys on holes 10-13. He made another bogey at 16 but birdied Nos. 17 and 18. He finished with one more bogey and a birdie on four for a one-under 71 and a two-round total of 150 as well.
 
Senior William Cooper bogeyed two of his first three holes before a birdie at No. 18 in the first round. He made birdies on holes one and five but also a double and one triple bogey on the front nine. He added two more birdies on holes 11 and 14 but another double, shooting 78.
 
The Charlotte, N.C., native collected four birdies and four bogeys in the second round, including birdies on holes 8, 11, 14 and 18. He carded a second-round 76 for a 36-hole score of 154, tied for 24th.
 
Sophomore Connor Natwick double bogeyed No. 18 after starting with two pars and made six bogeys with a birdie at No. 3 on the front nine. He ended the opening round with birdies on holes 11 and 14 but also a bogey and a double for an 80.
 
The Charlotte, N.C., native registered four birdies and two bogeys in the second round, with birdies on holes one and three on the front nine and 14 and 18 on the back. He finished with a four-over 76 for a two-round total of 156, tied for 33rd.
 
Senior Cameron Simons opened the first round with three pars and a birdie on 18. He collected four pars and five bogeys on the front nine before a bogey and two doubles on 11-13. He finished the round with a birdie for an 80.
 
The San Antonio, Texas, native netted 10 pars with birdies on three and 14 in the second round, shooting a five-over 77 for a 36-hole score of 157, tied for 42nd.
 
Senior Teddy Sotsky started his day with four straight pars and then a birdie at No. 18. He collected a birdie at No. 5 on the front nine but also netted three bogeys and a double. He registered two more bogeys and a double to finish the first round with a 79.
 
The Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., native recorded 12 pars and five bogeys in the second round for a seven-over 79 and a 36-hole score of 158, good for 48th.
