Colin Edwards shot three-under 69 and senior
Elias Becker posted a two-under 70 in the second round, leading Sewanee men's golf on a 36-hole Monday in the Tiger Invitational at Forest Creek Golf Club-North in Pinehurst, N.C.
The Tigers are tied for seventh among 20 teams after two rounds but just three strokes from fourth place Emory University.
Edwards bogeyed his first hole of the day, No. 5, and recorded another bogey at No. 9. The Brookhaven, Ga., native birdied holes 10 and 14 but collected a double bogey on No. 12. He made two more bogeys before a birdie at No. 4 to end the first round with a three-over 75.
In the second round he collected 11 pars over the first 14 holes, including birdies on holes 10, 14 and 15 on the back nine. He added three more pars to finish the round at three-under 69 for a 36-hole total of even-par 144, tied for 18
th among 100 players.
Becker carded a two-over 74 in the opening round, recording 16 pars. The Mexico City, Mexico, native netted seven pars before a bogey at No. 12 and then posted six more pars. He bogeyed the first hole and collected three more pars to end the round.
He registered five pars and a birdie on No. 9 before recording his first bogey of the day at No. 11. Becker tallied three birdies on the back nine as well on holes 14, 16 and 18 and one more bogey before ending the day with four more pars for a two-under 70 in the second round and a two-round score of 144 as well.
Sophomore
Turner Chiles shot one-under 71 in a first round that included 15 pars. The Houston, Texas, native collected six pars before a birdie at No. 11 before registering eight more pars. He bogeyed the par-3 second hole but came right back with a birdie on the par-5 third and finished with two pars.
He birdied No. 6 in the second round and registered bogeys on holes 8, 10, 14 and 15. Chiles ended the day with seven consecutive pars, shooting three-over 75 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 146, good for 31
st.
Freshman
Aidan Tudor started his day with a bogey at No. 5 but recorded birdies on holes 10 and 11 before a bogey at No. 12. The New Market, Md., native netted seven consecutive pars but made a bogey on two and a double on three to shoot three-over 75 in the first round.
Tudor bogeyed No. 5 to begin his second round as well before a birdie at No. 7. He then collected three bogeys in a five-hole stretch from 9-14 but rebounded with eight pars and a birdie at No. 16 to finish the day, shooting two-over 74 for a two-round score of 149, good for 48
th.
Senior
Will Brookby collected a bogey at No. 5 to begin his day but was two-over through seven holes before a stretch of four bogeys in five holes from 12-16. The Houston, Texas, native made par on five of the final six holes, finishing with an eight-over 80 in the opening round.
He registered a bogey at No. 6, his second hole of the second round, and posted an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole, one of three eagles at No. 9 over the 36 holes on Monday. He followed that with a birdie at No. 10 and reeled off seven pars over the next eight holes. Brookby collected bogeys at No. 17 and on three, finishing with an even-par 72 in the second round and a 36-hole score of 152, 65
th individually.
