Sewanee in fourth on day two of SAA Championships

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee swimming and diving teams broke three school records and recorded several top-10 finishes on day two of the Southern Athletic Association Championships, as the Tigers remain in fourth place on both the men's and women's sides.

Highlighting the day were a pair of school-record performances in the 200 freestyle relays and a record-breaking sprint from Ada Digby. Digby collected a podium finish in the women's 50 freestyle, placing third with a school-record time of 23.85. Audrey Francell followed in eighth at 24.47, while Natalia Evans placed 12th with a 24.71.

On the men's side of the 50 freestyle, Josh Kim also reached the podium, finishing third with a time of 20.94, just .01 seconds behind the runner-up. Andrew Olsen captured the B Finals title in 21.02 — a time that would have ranked fifth in the A Finals — while Eric Jurkovic placed third in the B Finals and 11th overall with a 21.29.

Relay success continued to fuel Sewanee's momentum. Francell, McKenna Reed, Evans, and Digby finished third in the women's 200 freestyle relay, setting another school record in 1:36.86. Caroline Johnson, Adelina Willett, Grace Gearhart, and Samantha Denman placed 13th in the B Finals with a 1:42.98.

The men's 200 freestyle relay of Jurkovic, Kim, Carter Nabors, and Olsen also broke the school record, swimming a 1:23.81 for fourth place. In the B Final, Naeem Mangum, Henry Lindeman III, Jackson Pillow, and Ryder Griffin finished third with a 1:26.74, good for 11th overall.

Strong distance swims added key points for the Tigers. In the men's 500 freestyle, Griffin placed seventh in the A Finals with a 4:44.83, while Lindeman III surged late to claim the B Finals victory in 4:44.09, edging Berry's Jack Hendrix by just .01 seconds. John Brettschneider added a 16th-place finish with a 4:57.22 in the B Finals.

In the women's 500 freestyle, Ella Deitch earned an eighth-place finish in the A Finals with a 5:19.93. Sarah Beth Roady posted a strong swim in the B Finals, finishing fourth in that heat and 12th overall with a time of 5:19.21.

Eleanor Bishop represented Sewanee in the women's 200 IM, finishing 14th with a time of 2:14.04.

On the boards, Zoe Napier and Lily Stooksbury placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the women's 1-meter diving competition. Napier totaled a score of 214.90, while Stooksbury followed with a 171.45.

After two days of competition, both Sewanee programs sit in fourth place. The women have totaled 184 points, while the men stand at 196 points heading into day three.
