SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee junior
Reid Carrier earned Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week honors Monday, averaging 15.0 points and 6.3 assists in three victories for the Tigers.
The Highlands, N.C., native posted 13 points and six assists versus Brevard College and collected 17 points, six rebounds and five assists against LaGrange College in wins at the Jack Berkshire Classic at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga.
In the conference opener versus Centre College, he netted 15 points, all in the second half, including the final nine points of the game, as Sewanee used a 12-4 spurt late in the contest to pull out the win. He made a 3-pointer and then posted an old-fashioned 3-point play for the final six points of the run, then added another basket plus the foul and connected on three free throws in the final minute.
After starting the season 0-6, the Tigers have won 5-of-6 overall. Sewanee hosts Rhodes College and Millsaps College this weekend at Juhan Gymnasium.
