SEWANEE, Tenn. – Senior
William Cooper posted two rounds of one-over par 73 while seniors Cam Simons and
Teddy Sotsky each carded one round of 73 for Sewanee men's golf at the SAA Preview on Sunday at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
Cooper began his rounds at No. 14 with a bogey, alternating bogeys and birdies over the first four holes. He made par on 10 of the next 12 holes with only two bogeys before a birdie at No. 12 to finish the opening round at one-over 73.
The Charlotte, N.C., native posted two bogeys but also an eagle on the par-5 17
th hole to open the second round. He collected birdies on holes three and five with one bogey on the front nine and tallied two bogeys over the last four holes for a second straight one-over 73, tying for fourth with a two-round total of 146.
Freshman
Grant Caldwell started his rounds at No. 15, netting four straight pars to make the turn. He posted one birdie on the front nine, at No. 2, but recorded a double bogey on one and four more bogeys. He made another bogey at 10 before registering birdies on Nos. 12 and 13 for a four-over 76.
The Charlotte, N.C., native recorded one bogey in the first four holes and recorded seven pars and two bogeys on the front nine. He stumbled on the final five holes with two doubles but then birdied his last hole at No. 14 for a second-round 78 and a 36-hole score of 154, tied for 18th.
Senior
Cameron Simons began his rounds at No. 13 with a bogey and birdied Nos. 14 and 16, but a quadruple bogey nine at No. 17 sidetracked the opening round. He posted birdies on holes two and eight on the front nine with three pars and four bogeys and ended the round with two bogeys and a triple for an 82.
The San Antonio, Texas, native came back strong in the second round, though, making a bogey with a birdie at No. 17. He shot even-par on the front nine with two bogeys and back-to-back birdies on Nos. 6-7 before a bogey on his last hole at No. 12, carding a second-round one-over 73. He finished with a two-round score of 155, tied for 23rd.
Junior
Logan Johnson started his rounds at No. 14 with a par before a bogey at No. 15 and a triple bogey on 18. He netted six pars with a bogey and one double along with a birdie on the par-3 third hole on the front nine and posted three consecutive pars before a bogey at No. 13 to finish the opening round with a seven-over 79.
The Dallas, Texas, native opened the second round with five straight pars but registered three bogeys, a double and a birdie at No. 5 on the front nine. He added four more pars to finish the round at four-over 76 for a 36-hole score of 155 as well.
Senior
Teddy Sotsky began his rounds at No. 17 with a birdie but then bogeyed No. 18. He collected six pars with one bogey and birdies on holes two and nine on the front nine. Sotsky added birdies on Nos. 11 and 13 but recorded a double bogey on 12 and bogeys on 15 and 16 to complete the first round at one-over 73.
The Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., native had another bogey at No. 18 in the second round and posted four pars, three bogeys, a double and a birdie at No. 9 on the front nine. He struggled over the final seven holes with three bogeys, a double and a triple for a second-round 85 and a two-round total of 155, tied for 29th.
Senior
Will Brookby started his rounds at No. 13 with a birdie before a double on 16 and a bogey at 18. He played the front nine in one-under with birdies on holes one, four and nine along with four pars and two bogeys. He shot four-over 76 thanks to a bogey at No. 10 and a double on 12.
The Houston, Texas, native made five pars with a bogey to open the second round. He collected five pars with three bogeys and a double on the front nine before two more bogeys and a double to complete the day with an 82 and a 36-hole score of 155.
