Becker, Johnson, and Lucas Named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Elias Becker, Logan Johnson, and Pearse Lucas of the Sewanee men's golf team have been named 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Tuesday afternoon.

Becker capped an outstanding junior campaign as the SAA Championships medalist and earned multiple postseason honors, including PING Second Team All-Region, SAA Athlete of the Year, and First Team All-SAA. He was also a finalist for the Gary Player International Golfer of the Year award and earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Team. A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Becker placed 20th at the NCAA Championships and ended the season ranked 14th nationally and 11th in the region.

Johnson collected Second Team All-SAA honors for the second consecutive year and competed in seven tournaments, including both the NCAA Championships and SAA Championships. The sophomore earned his second SAA Academic Honor Roll selection and finished the season with a 73.6 scoring average, ranking 64th in the region.

Lucas rounded out a strong senior season, earning PING All-Region IV and First Team All-SAA honors while joining Becker on the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team. The Charlotte, N.C., native finished the year ranked 58th nationally and 29th regionally, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the SAA Championships.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar recognition, student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically, participate in at least 50% of their team's competitive rounds, hold a stroke average under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Recipients must also demonstrate high moral character and be in good standing at their institution.

In total, 202 student-athletes from 78 NCAA Division III institutions received 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors.
