SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee men's lacrosse senior Devon Root was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-American, the organization announced Tuesday. In addition, the Sewanee men's lacrosse team earned a USILA Team Academic Award for the 2025 season.

The USILA Scholar All-America program recognizes student-athletes with at least a senior academic standing who achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher and has been honored as an All-American or with an All-Conference award.

Root, who earned Second-Team All-SAA honors as a senior, was a two-time All-Conference player for the Tigers in the midfield. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native tallied 110 career points with 77 goals and 33 assists. He added 66 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers in his career with the Tigers.

To qualify for the Team Academic Award, schools must earn a team GPA of at least a 3.0. Sewanee is one of 80 Division III men's lacrosse teams to earn this honor. The program achieved a 3.317 GPA during the 2025 season. During the easter semester, 13 student-athletes were named to the Dean's list.
