SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's
Lacey Carder garnered All-Tournament accolades during the SAA Women's Soccer Championships, as announced Monday by the conference office.
The Tigers defeated Southwestern University, 2-0, in the quarterfinals before dropping a 1-0 decision to host Rhodes College in the semifinals, ending the team's three-year streak of league tournament titles.
"Lacey was a staunch 1-v-1 defender who sprung our offensive attack in wide spaces," according to head coach
Greg Cathell. "She jumped entry passes to transition the Tigers' offense forward while keeping the opposition locked in higher up the field throughout the tournament."
Carder was back of a backline that allowed just eight goals in 17 matches this season while posting three assists and starting all 17 outings for Sewanee.
