Tudor posts rounds of 74-75 for men's golf at Tartan Invite

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Freshman Aidan Tudor carded rounds of 74-75 while senior Colin Edwards shot 73-77 for Sewanee men's golf Monday at the Tartan Invitational at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Lithonia, Pa.
 
The Tigers withdrew from the team competition Monday morning because of sickness spreading through the players, who gutted out 36 holes despite the issues.
 
Tudor started both rounds on No. 5, posting a bogey to begin the day before a birdie at No. 8. He recorded bogey-bogey-double bogey on holes 10-12 but rebounded with eight pars and two birdies (18 and 3) to end the opening 18.
 
In the second round the New Market, Md., native birdied No. 7 before a double at nine. He collected another birdie on 11 but posted bogeys on 14 and 17. Tudor netted another birdie at No. 1 and finished with bogeys on two and four for a 36-hole score of 149, tied for 14th.
 
Edwards also began the day with a bogey at No. 5 but then played the next 12 holes in two-under with two birdies (8 and 15) and 10 pars. He posted bogey-bogey-double on 18, one and two but finished the first 18 with back-to-back birdies.
 
The Brookhaven, Ga., native was one-over through 10 holes in the second round with nine pars and one bogey before another stretch of bogey-bogey-double on holes 15-17. He netted a birdie at No. 2 and bogeyed his final hole of the day, No. 4, shooting 150 over the 36 holes, tied for 21st.
 
Sophomore Turner Chiles carded rounds of 76-77 on Monday, collecting one birdie and 11 pars in the opening round. He made two bogeys on the front nine and three on the back and claimed a birdie at No. 2.
 
The Houston, Texas, native bogeyed holes 6-10 in the second round but then registered three birdies and three bogeys from 11-18, with birdies on holes 11, 15 and 18. He finished with three pars and is tied for 37th with a 36-hole score of 153.
 
Senior Elias Becker recorded 12 pars in his opening round but no birdies. He started with six straight pars before a bogey-bogey-double stretch on holes 12-14. He tallied three more bogeys from 1-5 for a first-round 79.
 
The Mexico City, Mexico, native birdied No. 6 to begin the second round but that was his only birdie of the day. He posted five bogeys on the back nine and two on the front for a 78 and a two-round total of 157.
 
Sophomore Niel Phillips made it through one round before calling it a day. The New Orleans, La., native registered eight pars and a birdie on the par-5 18th hole.
