Deitch and Walker pick up SAA Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's Ella Deitch and Katie Walker swept the women's swimming and diving Athlete of the Week awards as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Freshman Ella Deitch led the Tigers as they traveled to Emory this weekend. The newcomer swam the fastest SAA time in the 500 freestyle with a 5:21.75. She also placed third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:02.34 and recorded a 2:17.50 in the 200 IM. Deitch finished as the fifth-highest scorer in the meet.

Diver Katie Walker competed in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at Emory, completing six dives in each. On the 1-meter, she placed fourth with 183.52 points finishing behind three NCAA qualifiers. She also scored 178.20 points on the 3-meter for another fourth-place finish.

The Tigers will host Berry on November 8 at 6 p.m. in the Fowler Centre Natatorium.
